Baseball HOF adds 888 item in quarter

Material from the House of David baseball career of Dick Hummel and All American Girls Professional Baseball League career of Edith Houghton are among 888 new pieces for the Hall of Fame library in Cooperstown. A report covering donations for the first quarter of the year included:

  • Manuscript and audio ape interviews for Connie Mack's '29 Triumph by William Kashatus.
  • A collection of more than 400 contemporary photographs of minor and major league stadiums.
  • A collection of scrapbooks featuring coverage of the 1924 and 1926 World Series, which includes American Caramel baseball cards and cut signatures.
  • A game program and photograph featuring the 1962 Atlanta Crackers.

The HOF archives contain more than 2.5 million items, including photographs, books, magazines, newspaper clippings, films, video and aduio tapes. It also has 25,000 three-dimensional artifacts representing all facets of the game -- bats, baseballs, uniforms, equipment, stadium artifacts, awards, artwork, textiles, tickets and other collectibles and memorabilia.
